ANJE Annual Report 2021

Problem and starting point

This annual report was made while working as media manager and graphic designer at the Dominican National Association of Young Entrepreneurs (ANJE, Asociación Nacional de Jóvenes Empresarios). As every year, ANJE uses its annual report (called in the association Memorias Institucionales, institutional memoirs) to present the past year’s accomplishments, activities and impact to its members, other associations, the public sector and civil society in general; as well as the overall results of that year’s leadership.

Process

While this used to be a somewhat chaotic process, during that year, together with ANJE’s executive director Sol Disla, a new approach was implemented which consisted on a very early start in the year with the establishment of the general look and feel of the final product and then completing the content as it was generated, adding it periodically: sometimes every week.

As a result, it became a live document constantly updated, retooled and fine-tuned. This allowed for no information to be lost, everything that was considered worthy of the final product was included and sometimes later on, removed, in consideration to the ongoing year developments. It also resulted on a much quicker closing process, as stakeholders already had a clear view of what the report included.

Results

The final report was released to the public during ANJE’s annual general assembly, where the outgoing board of directors (including its president) present their results and successes; and a new board is elected by the members and sworn in. This assembly is attended by representatives of the Dominican Government (in the 2021 assembly, the vice-president was present); of other associations, corporate leaders, international envoys and other relevant parties.
